Innsbruck University Uni
The official name of the university in Innsbruck is
"Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck". The university was founded in
1669 and is the biggest education institiute in Tirol. Compared to
other universities in Austria, the university in Innsbruck is the third
biggest behind Vienna and Graz.
It was Emperor Leopold I. who gave order to build up an university in
Innsbruck in 1669. The money was taken from the profit of the salt
commerce of the Tirolean city Hall.
The buildings of the university are devided over the whole city area. You won't find a campus in Innbruck.
The most important locations are:
- theological faculty
- the main building of the university library
- building of the scientific faculty
