Innsbruck Golden Roof
The Golden Roof in the old town of Innsbruck is the most important symbol of the city.
It was Friedrich IV who was Archduke by profession which had the
glorious idea to build such kind of roof. So he started in the
beginning of the 15th century to make his dream come true and bring
Innsbruck its most important sight.
Archdruke Friedrich IV built the roof for his emperor Maximilian I. As
we know today the emperor was very delighted about such that gift.
Maximilian enjoyed it a lot to sit in luxury under his golden roof, and
view the lively activity under the square below. There was no
television, no cinema, and no radio that time. So Maximilian I had a
very good time under his roof watching his subordinates living their
everyday life.
