Alpenzoo "Alpine Zoo"
By a height 727 metres the Alpenzoo (Alpine Zoo) is the highest located zoo in Europe.
More than 2000 animals of 150 different kinds invite to an eventful visit into the world of Alpine animals. The zoo has an area of 4,1 hectare.
The opening took place on the 22th September 1962. The zoo is one of the most popular sights of Innsbruck. It was Helmut Pechlaner who increased the fame and popularity of the Alpenzoo.
The zoo can be reached by the bus line of "Sightseer". As the Alpenzoo is located quite far from the centre, it's not recommended to walk by feet.
The way up over the Inn river to the Alpine Zoo by the Hungerburgbahn.
At the moment this possibility to visit the Alpine Zoo is closed.
